As many of you know, I spent a few months in Georgia this year. One of the passions I pursued, during that time, was downtown exploring. In fact, downtown exploring, along with hiking, is the focus on my Instagram account.

While you won’t struggle to find a worthy spot to snap a photo of in the city, there are some places that stand out as excellent places to capture the moment - especially if you’re only in town for a quick visit. From unique street art and impressive architecture to hidden gems and picture-perfect meals, Atlanta has a lot to offer photographers of all skill levels.

The Jackson Street Bridge
Due to the panaramic view, The Jackson Street Bridge is one of Atlanta's most popular photoshoot locations. From the bridge, you can see the city's skyscrapers, which makes a eye-catching backdrop to any photo.
Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams
When it’s time for a snack, head to this well-loved ice cream shop. You’ll find a few locations scattered around Atlanta, but for the best opportunities for your Instagram shot, check out the location in Decatur Square. The bright white tiled walls, draped strings of lights, and retro chalkboard menu create the perfect environment to enjoy a picture-perfect scoops of everyone’s favorite sweet dessert
Centennial Olympic Park
Originally constructed for the 1996 Summer Olympics, this park is situated in the heart of Atlanta, and is surrounded by many of the city’s most recognized landmarks, like the CNN Center and the Georgia Aquarium. Photograph one of the park’s water features, like the popular Fountain of Rings, or share a picture of the SkyView Atlanta, an eye-catching ferris wheel that offers great views of the city.
Atlanta Beltline
The Atlanta beltline is, of course, a way to get around the city, but more it's more than that. It's also home to some amazing artwork, which makes it idea for taking memorable photos.
Georgia Aquarium
This impressive aquarium is the largest in the Western Hemisphere and is easily one of the city’s top tourist attractions, so chances are it’s already on your list of spots to visit. Snap a photo with an otter, whale, or penguin, or capture the sheer size of the tanks with a floor-to-ceiling shot of the glass (and the fish behind it) in hues of blue.
The Westin Peachtree Plaza
If you’re willing to splurge on lunch, dinner or drinks, check out the Sun Dial Restaurant at the Westin Peachtree Plaza for incredible Instagram-worthy views. This may not be the best recommendation if you’re afraid of heights - you’ll dine on the 72nd floor in a restaurant that boasts 360-degree views of the city below - but you will be treated to some of the best views you’ll find in Atlanta, making this a great place to snap a photo for your Instagram feed.
From delicious eats to impressive views, these spots are sure to provide some excellent photo opportunities for your Instagram feed.
